– Ashling's success in Adelaide
KPT are proud sponsors of young tennis star Ashling Sumner, and are pleased to inform you of her latest successes. She played two ITF events recently, one in Adelaide and one in Gosford near Sydney. In Adelaide she reached the semi-final with her doubles partner.
In Gosford she reached the Quarter Final in the doubles and in the singles lost in a very close match in the second round in 3 sets (5-7, 7-6, 2-6)Ashling then went ino the Consolation draw which is all the singles players who were knocked out during Round 1 and 2. Out of 48 girls, Ashling won all of her matches, reaching the final which she also won 6-1. 1-0 before her opponent retired.
This was Ashling's first foray into International events, and this great start already demonstrates her potential. She will be playing some Open events in Queensland during the next few months in preparation for her next ITF tournament in Fiji in June. After this she will compete in two more events in Darwin in July. Congratulations from everyone at KPT for your win Ashling, and we wish you all the best for the future.
